Are You Spending Your Holidays Without Family?
Two years ago, I wrote a piece about not spending the holidays with family. Of course, this was long before the pandemic was forcing people to do just that.
If you're without family for the holidays, whether it's because of COVID-19 or anything else, this piece is for you.
10 Masterclasses Are Now Available On-Demand
As you may know, I've been running masterclasses over the last few months. Well, I'm pleased to say that you can get on-demand access to any of these masterclasses.
The price to access a masterclass is $45.00 for one or $40/masterclass if you buy more than one. For access to any masterclass, just click the button below to email me.
If you prefer to see a live masterclass, there will be more scheduled next year.
What You May Have Missed
Here are a some things you might have missed from Bipolar Burble and Breaking Bipolar:
- What Is Ableism? How Does Ableism Feel to Those with Mental Illness? -- Are you familiar with prejudice against those with disabilities? Most people with a disability are. This is ableism. Learn more about it here.
- Too Young to Be Suicidal? Children and Suicidality -- Some people are under the impression that young children aren't at risk for mental illness, let alone suicide. However, that train of though is putting our young people at risk.
- How to Respond to Mental Health Jokes -- Mental health jokes can hurt. Guest author Kate Haldeman shares her tips for dealing with them.
- Feeling Helpless Because of Bipolar Disorder -- While I'm generally a self-assured, self-directed person, sometimes the demands of bipolar disorder makes me feel helpless. I hate it.
- Feeling Like a Failure for Getting Help -- Recently, I hired someone to clean my house. You would think that would make me feel good, but, unfortunately, it didn't. It made me feel like a failure.
- What Taking a COVID-19 Test Is Like -- Anxiety Galore -- Recently, I had to take a test for COVID-19. As I learned what that was like, I also learned about anxiety and what we all need to be doing in the time of a pandemic.

"I have been exchanging, "Have a day," with someone for a while now, and it makes me smile every time. But the truth is there is something pressure-filled about telling someone who is sick to have a "nice" day. So many of us have so many crappy days when "nice" just isn't even an option. I know when I'm really depressed, telling me to have a nice day is just a cruel joke. Or when I'm pinned down with a migraine, same thing.
Telling someone to have a "nice" day is a societal norm we can change any time, if you ask me.
"So, for today, just have a day -- any day. It might be nice, great, terrible, or something else. And that's okay. No pressure here."
'Lost Marbles' Reviews
I'm pleased to say I now have 255 reviews/ratings between GoodReads and Amazon US. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write their thoughts. My book is rated about 4.5 stars out of 5!
Here is an amazing five-star review by Lindalu on Amazon Canada:
"This book said all the things about this illness that I was afraid to say thinking people would think I really have an overstated opinion of myself. I am Bi-Polar 1, as well as depressive and I have Social Anxiety as well. It limits my ability to go out as well as work.
"If you have Bi-Polar, or love someone who does, this is a must read."
If you've had a chance to read Lost Marbles, I would love it if you would leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Thanks, I appreciate it.
November's Final Words
That's it for now folks; I'll catch up with you again in December when I'll be sending out a list of holiday-related posts that can help get your through this challenging time.
Please remember to socially distance, wear a mask and take other precautions to lessen the spread of COVID-19. This third wave is killing more than one thousand Americans every day. By taking the CDC-recommended precautions, you are saving lives.
And as an uplifter, here's a great November quote I found that's making me hungry:
“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”
