New Masterclass -- Get Real 11: Let's Talk About Sex and Bipolar Disorder
Many people with bipolar disorder are concerned about its effects on their sex life but, unfortunately, doctors often overlook this issue. This masterclass is designed to give you the facts about sex and bipolar disorder and educate you on what to do if bipolar or bipolar medication is affecting your sex life.
This masterclass is 90 minutes long, is delivered via Zoom and has time allotted for live Q and A. Slides and a recording will be available to registrants upon request.
What You May Have Missed
Here are a some things you might have missed from Bipolar Burble and Breaking Bipolar:
- Banned Instagram Mental Health Tags for Bipolar, Depression and More -- Instagram isn't upfront about it, but they make it impossible to follow certain tags -- they ban them. These tags include #depression, #bipolardisorder and other choices that show their distinct
lack of understanding of those with mental illness.
- Happy Experiences Trigger My Depression More Than Sad Ones -- Have you ever had a happy experience or watched something joyous and got upset? That's what happens to me sometimes. (This post includes a video.)
- How Psychologists Can Harm Your Mental Health (But They Don't Have To) -- I think therapy and psychologists can be extremely helpful, but you need to watch out for the traps that some of them present.
- How to Have a Happy Holiday with Bipolar -- I used to think this was impossible, but yes, this is something that can happen.
- The Lifeline Can Trace Calls, Save Lives -- Up until recently, I didn't realize that suicide hotlines trace calls. This does not mean they are not saving lives while doing it,
however.
- When You Fell Like You Can't Handle the Holidays -- I felt for many years, I couldn't handle the holidays. I've learned how to deal with that feeling now, though.
- Why Looking Forward with Bipolar Is So Hard -- When you have a chronic illness, one that is likely to affect your every day, looking forward into that reality can be very hard.
- Going Off Bipolar Medication -- Almost Always a Bad Idea -- Many people with bipolar disorder have gone off their medications or very much want to. Read this for why that's usually a very bad idea.
- Outthinking Bipolar Disorder -- It's normal to think that you should be able to outthink an illness that exists in your mind. Here's why people think that, the reality and what you can do instead.

"I'm not going the 'new me' route for the new year. Nope. I'm the same me. And it's not that I'm perfect or don't want to improve, it's just that the new year means nothing when it comes to that journey. When it's important, I'll make the changes I need. Attempting to impose major changes at an arbitrary time is a recipe for disaster.
"But more importantly, I want to say this to everyone (and to me): You're just fine how you are in this moment. You don't need to 'resolve' to do anything to be worthy of love and happiness in the new year. You may not be a perfect human (no one is), but you are perfectly you, and that's enough.
"So, new year, same me, and I'm okay with that."
'Lost Marbles' Reviews
I'm pleased to say I now have 269 reviews/ratings between GoodReads and Amazon. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write their thoughts. My book is rated about 4.5 stars out of 5!
Here is the latest review. It's by Alexa F: Good Insight, Very Helpful
"The author gives good insight about bipolar and depression. I liked that she included credible sources and researched- based information all while being a pretty easy read. I found this book very helpful in being able to try and understand what my loved one is struggling with. Highly recommended."
If you've had a chance to read Lost Marbles, I would love it if you would leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Thanks, I appreciate it.
January's Final Words
That's it for now folks; I'll catch up with you again in February when there will be more scheduled masterclasses. Until then, if you have a topic you'd like me to cover, just let me know.
Today's quote goes along with my Instagram post: I think it's very wise and something we should all strive to do:
“I think in term's of the day's resolutions, not the year's.”
